Shell LiveWIRE Showcases its 21 Innovator Finalists

Twenty-one businesses from nine countries have been shortlisted for this year’s prestigious Shell LiveWIRE Top Ten Innovators Awards, a collaboration with Shell Retail which recognises outstanding Shell LiveWIRE alumni that are providing innovative solutions within new energies, waste reduction and the enhancement of sustainable supply chains.

Showcased on the Top Ten Innovators website between 25 June - 4 July, the 21 businesses attracted 11,230 online public votes from 102 countries. The top ten winners, who will share in awards funding totalling US $130k, will be announced in Global Entrepreneurship Week during 12-16 November (GEW2018) at a special event taking place in Kuching, Malaysia.

The Public Vote results will help to determine the ten winners, and the final ranking of the Top Ten will be determined by an expert panel of judges. Three top prizes of US $20,000 and six runner up prizes of US $10,000 will be awarded. In addition, an Outstanding Achievement Award of $10,000 will be made. The Top Ten will also have an unrivalled opportunity to work with Shell Retail to enhance sustainability within its supply chain.

Recognising the high quality of the finalist businesses, István Kapitány, Executive VP of Shell Retail, said, “We are thrilled to see the 21 finalists, who represent the geographic diversity, innovative mindset and forward thinking that we value so highly at Shell Retail.

Winners will be named in three categories: Energy Solutions; Retail Supply Chain; and, Social Enterprises. Shell believes that by supporting new ideas and entrepreneurs who are innovating in waste reduction, energy efficient solutions, cleaner energy and positive social impact, together we will progress towards meeting our goals of more and cleaner energy solutions, taking great strides along our journey to a low-carbon future.

The 21 finalist businesses provide a wide range of innovations, from biologically accurate food labelling to hydrogen transportation, and removal of wastewater pollutants to magnetic anchoring solutions.

In addition to receiving a no-strings attached financial boost, and the possibility to be considered as a vendor to Shell (Retail), winners will also receive an awards package, including mentoring support by a Shell expert, the opportunity to benefit from market linkages, global exposure, and participation in an exclusive two-day Top Ten Innovators event during GEW2018.
